Choosing IT Partners That Want To Help Amplify Your Organization’s Mission

Your business partners aren’t called partners just because. Not only should they be adding value to your organization through the services they provide, but they should also play a role in moving your mission forward by being your biggest cheerleader. Who wouldn’t want that, am I right?

Here’s what you need to know about choosing a technology partner that wants to help you fulfill your organization’s mission so that you can achieve your goals, make a change, and set precedence.

Look for a partner that goes beyond profit

Most businesses exist to provide a product or service to make money (go figure). But for Certified B-corps, organizations dedicated to using business as a force for good, there’s a balance between purpose and profit. As part of a B-Corp, you must consider the impact of your business decisions on customers, workers, suppliers, the community, and the environment.

Because your organization isn’t merely focused on making a profit, it’s crucial to find the right partners to further your mission and vision. You want partners that go beyond the transactional realm of business.

The companies and organizations you partner with should amplify your mission and work alongside you to help you achieve your goals. Be your cheerleader, remember?

Ethics and morals: not just a nice to have

It’s equally important to choose partners and vendors that won’t negatively affect your B-Corp score. By working with companies that have a track record of being a positive force and doing good in the world, you can improve your own score.

Who you work with matters, which is why you want to choose partners that align with your organization’s missions so that you can work together to have an even bigger impact on both a small and large scale.

Would it make sense to have a mission to do good in the world, but have partners who are unethical? Doesn’t make sense to us either!

Know your purpose

At the end of the day, it’s true that profit is what drives a company’s financial success. But what’s even more important is what’s at the heart of an organization. What’s your purpose, and how do you plan to achieve it?

Whether you like it or not, your entire operation relies on technology and this reliance is ever increasing. Modern-day Managed Service Providers or MSPs are the partners who oversee and manage that technology. Finding the right partner here is like finding a good healthcare team; they are there in an emergency to fix you and proactively ensure you stay as healthy and resilient as possible.

To extend the metaphor a little further, they are also connected to other trusted partners, or specialists, who can be called in for special circumstances. Finally, the key ingredient is that they authentically want the best for you, will go above and beyond and are not merely in it to make a living. Your IT and technology partners should meet the same criteria, and just like with healthcare, sometimes you get what you pay for.

This is a small, but powerful example of the types of things that the vendors you choose can make a positive impact on the world.
